Hello beautiful you.

After my hugely successful autumn girl gathering with the gorgeous Miss FlowerGirl, I've been dreaming up yet another soul-nourishing, wholesome and creative gathering for you all.

I’m so pleased to announce the perfect co-star I've chosen to collaborate with on this event, the extremely talented and oh-so-lovely illustration artist Jessica Lindblom-Brice. Together we will bring you a very special woodland inspired kinfolk gathering. Beautiful things happen when we work with artists, chefs, and fellow creatives that inspire us.

My good friend Jessica and yours truly, Gather Girl, are so excited to bring you an afternoon of art, whole-food making, styling and feasting. This is an opportunity to treat yourself and feed the creative part of your soul (and your tummy).

We have chosen the most gorgeous location, just 10 minutes drive from Nelson CBD; a beautiful house in the rural tranquilly of Wakapuaka, surrounded by pretty garden beds, woodland hills and the Haven in the distance.

Who are we?

Hayley, otherwise known as Gather Girl is a certified plant-based nutritionist, women's holistic health coach, whole-foods chef and founder of successful culinary ventures Blak + Ruby Chai organic concentrates, and Gather Girl range of dairy-free cultured coconut yoghurts. She is also the mother of three gorgeous daughters.

Passionate about everything to do with health, wellness and botanical cuisine, she wants to show you how easy it can be to create and style a nourishing whole-food platter that you would be proud to put at the centre of your table, or take along to any gathering. Hayley will share her extensive knowledge of the benefits of a plant-based lifestyle. All food will be vegan and free from wheat and refined sugar.

Jessica is a Sweden-born, Nelson based illustration artist, and mother of two.

After graduating with a degree in Art, Design and Education from Konstfack University College in Stockholm, Sweden in 2011, Jessica came to New Zealand and has since pursued her own artistic path.

It is with huge excitement she anticipates this opportunity of teaching art again! Especially when it includes her two very favourite art making components - ink and paper!

Why the gathering table?

The collision of senses at the table is unparalleled. A truly great gathering can consume you. It can lift you up. Soft linen & glass carafes. A red wine stain. The crunch of greens. Acid. Salt. Water. Wine. Girly Cocktails. A splash of floral cordial. The stranger at the table next to you that becomes your new best friend. The soul-nourishing delight that comes from celebrating femininity. It’s a symphony, the dinner table. It demands that you be present. It’s an art if you let it be.

What can you expect?

When you arrive, you will meet and greet an intimate and informal gathering of like minded women, Jessica and myself, and shortly after we will settle in to Jessica's contour drawing class and begin creating your very own artwork. Jessica and I will be supplying fine ink pens as well as indian ink and brushes to create your piece. Quality textured paper and a deep-set wooden frame to mount your work will also be provided.

Next up, I will guide you through a series of whole-food recipes that I know you will make time and time again for future gatherings of your own, or simply for healthy snacking during your busy week. I'll show you how to plate up and style the perfect instagram / table centrepiece worthy platter and run through what colour and flavour combinations make for the perfect eye and palate-pleasing assortment of foods.

The remainder of the workshop will be gathered around sharing the glorious food we have just made and enjoying great company as we sip a stunning rose or ruby chai, and reflect on our artworks and the wonderful afternoon we have just experienced.

You will come away with your beautiful artwork and a goodie bag filled with carefully curated feminine treats from Jess and I. You will possess new skills and inspiration to create your own ink artworks anytime in the future and the know-how to whip up a divine and nourishing platter for family and friends with little to no notice. The recipes given are foods you can use in the kids lunch boxes or make ahead of time for healthy snacks to fuel you through your week. You will have had the chance to glean many pearls of wisdom from Hayley and Jessica during the day, and have them answer any of your burning questions.
